Joe Houston Jr is a former Pivot Fellow at Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business. Joe is a dynamic and multi- skilled individual and believes LINK is the perfect environment for continuing his work with the communities he has spent his life dedicated to. Throughout his career and many pursuits, Joe has always held to the importance of creating change within communities. His stellar skills in public relations, mentorship, community outreach, and social media enable him to motivate others and bring about positive change for others.

Joe founded We Fit Nation LLC, a wellness organization, in 2019 to address underlying health disparities in the District. As a D.C. native, Joe understands how underserved communities are affected by health disparities, such as a lack of access to gyms, grocery stores, and nutrition and wellness education. Joe wanted to use his skills as a wellness professional to bridge these gaps, so he launched WeFitDC with free workout classes in Wards 7 and 8. The program quickly garnered media attention and began receiving donations, government support, and various community partnerships. It has since expanded to a broader fitness movement. In addition to pop-up neighborhood workouts, WeFitDC provides personal and group training, nutrition seminars, and mental health resources, among other services. Joe sees his amazing work with WeFitDC as a way of giving back to his community and helping to empower people to make an impact. Through LINK, Joe hopes to build his own skill set in business development so he can grow his venture and reach more people and communities. Joe's broad experience across a range of sectors and communities has enabled him to bring his passion to LINK in the areas of community engagement and wellness.
