Psychology Associate’s Degree @ Central New Mexico Community College

Jasmine Nash was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she had a constant desire to be a part of the progression of women's rights, equal opportunities for all, and more resources for troubled teens. She started her path obtaining her associate’s degree in psychology at Central New Mexico Community College in hopes of becoming a therapist for troubled youth. As a result of the ongoing global social movements that started during that time, she decided social work was the best way for her to “be the change she wanted to see.” Being an African American woman who was a minority in predominantly white spaces throughout school stirred a curiosity in her to know more about the world outside of New Mexico.

With her continued passion for change, she relocated to Atlanta where culture and activism are abundant. Jasmine plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in social work from Georgia State University. While working toward her degree, she plans to volunteer at local nonprofits to better understand the logistics of running a non profit organization such as how to delegate, strategically plan, and properly allocate funds.

She plans to implement her skills and experience into her long-term goal to start a nonprofit organization to help BIPOC individuals, including providing resources, education, mentorship and economic support. Jasmine is committed to eradicating the racial, social, and economic barriers that impede the development of our Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.

In her spare time, Jasmine enjoys playing Xbox, board games, and spending quality time with her fur babies. She also enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures.
